This will shift your weight so that the table naturally falls back in a slow, controlled manner until your body is inverted at the angle you set before using the machine.
Is an inversion table expensive? Given the number of significant benefits you will receive from them, I think they are dirt cheap. A good, basic table can be had for as little as $100 if you purchase from the right retailer. The prices increase a little as you add more bells and whistles and luxury features such as lumbar support, memory foam back rests, ergonomically molded ankle supports, etc., but most quality tables are well under $500, and they last for years and years. One single year of chiropractic visits will cost you way more than that.
As you can see, the inversion table benefits far outweigh the costs. Even better, the risks are minimal, and nonexistent if you follow a few basic precautions which I outlined above.
